When we moved in, our builder-grade kitchen had a tiny 21-inch pantry, almost no usable drawers, and just 27 inches between the refrigerator and the island. As a designer, I knew we didn't need a bigger room. We needed a better layout. By moving the refrigerator, range, and island just a few inches at a time, the kitchen now feels almost twice as large without adding a single square foot. It's a transitional kitchen built in real time, with white oak, brass, plaster, and a little color, and every source is right here.
