I’ve spent more than 20 years designing new construction homes, I’ve always believed great design should feel possible, not intimidating. I love taking a big idea, figuring out how to make it work, and finding that sweet spot between beautiful and functional.

These days, you’ll usually find me somewhere in the middle of a project at our Montana home, remodeling a room, building something I probably could have bought, testing a new tool, or saying the four words my husband Dewey has learned to fear,  “I have an idea…”

When I’m not tearing apart our house, I’m probably spending time with Dewey, our three grown boys & their wives, and our Frenchies.... or finding something pretty I absolutely did not need.

I’M AN INTERIOR DESIGNER, DIYER AND BIG-IDEA DREAMER SHOWING YOU HOW TO CREATE A HOME YOU LOVE.

I'm rhonda

hey there,

It started with a shed.

We’d ordered a shed kit, and I fully expected my son, who was home from college, to build it. Two days in, he was over it, and then he went back to school. Suddenly there was a shed kit sitting in my yard and apparently it was my problem.

I was not excited. We even priced out hiring someone to finish it. But when the quotes came back, I decided I’d just have to figure it out myself.

I understood construction from years of designing homes, but actually picking up the tools and building something myself was completely different. We borrowed a nail gun from a friend, Dewey jumped in to help, and somewhere along the way something surprising happened:

I was actually having SO much fun.
And I was doing it. The shed was coming together. With every wall that went up, my confidence grew, and suddenly I started looking around our house differently. If I could do this…what else could I do?

That question changed everything.

I had left my design career that same summer intending to start creating content around interior design. But now I was combining everything I already knew about homes and construction with this entirely new confidence to actually build the ideas I could see in my head.

So I started sharing both, the design and the DIY.

And that’s really where Design with Rhonda began. Not because I knew how to do everything, but because I discovered I could learn how.

And if there’s one thing I hope you take away from being here, it’s that maybe you can, too.
